What is the Grant Program?

The Grant Program gives teachers and administrators the opportunity to apply for grants supporting creative and innovative programs, equipment, and technology within the Long Hill Township School District. The total amount funded each year through LHEF depends on the budget that is available each year.  The program aims to support a balanced portfolio of grants across disciplines, grade levels, and schools.

Who is Eligible to Apply for a Grant?

Any teacher, staff member, principal, or administrator in the Long Hill Township School District. 

When Can I Apply for a Grant?

Grant applications are accepted September through May. LHEF has an annual grant budget of $25,000, and requests are considered throughout the school year based on the merits of each proposal and the availability of funds.

How to Apply — Step by Step

1. Get administrative approval first: Discuss your request with your administrator (and the Director of Curriculum, if curriculum-related) before submitting your application.
2. Research pricing: Compare suppliers and provide the best available price. Include shipping and handling costs and exclude sales tax when applicable.. 
3. Submit the Grant Request Google Form: Find the form under "Apply for a Grant" on the LHEF website or Apply Here. Attach your best supplier price quote to the Google Form.
4. Meeting: The LHEF Grant Committee will confirm receipt of your request and provide the meeting date. Applicants are encouraged to attend the meeting to answer questions and provide additional information about their request.
5. Get the decision: The LHEF Board will notify you as to whether your request was approved and if so, next steps (fund handling, receipts, etc.) with the Board of Education business office.

What LHEF Funds

✅ Reusable or long-lasting educational items, such as books, games, equipment, and classroom resources

✅ Innovative projects that enhance the educational experience and provide a meaningful benefit to students

What LHEF Generally Does Not Fund

❌ Single-use or take-home personal items for students

❌ Items that have already been purchased or scheduled before the grant request is approved

❌ Recurring expenses, including subscriptions

❌ Programs or equipment already funded at your school by another source
Exception: A program or resource that has been successfully implemented elsewhere in the district and is new to your school may be considered.

❌ Items that replace standard BOE-funded programs or required curriculum materials, such as textbooks

❌ Basic/standard equipment typically provided by the district, such as computers, tablets, printers, projector screens, monitors, bookshelves, desks, tables, and rugs. Items in these categories may be considered when they are part of a larger innovative project or are being used in a way that meaningfully enhances the educational experience.

❌ Routine consumable supplies normally provided by the school or district

❌ Food or transportation expenses
